  • In order to qualify, you must have four to six years of experience working as a labor relations officer or consultant with large departmental portfolios (including handling grievances, arbitrating disputes, taking part in contract negotiations, enacting comprehensive workforce legislation, and mentoring human resources and management).
  • Any combination of extra experience, an HR certificate, and/or a second related certificate in mediation/education/negotiations may be taken into consideration along with a degree in human resources, industrial relations, or an equivalent mix of education, training, and experience.
  • A thorough understanding of municipal institutions and job categories, as well as practical experience in equivalent roles within other organizations.
  • Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to plan, create and lead cases.
  • Ability to produce, prepare, collate, and coordinate highly sensitive material with a high level of accuracy and efficiency while preserving secrecy.

  • Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships, handle disputes respectfully, make recommendations to internal stakeholders, and offer assistance and protection to divisional employees.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Develops and preserves ties with the Department of Labor, other human resource offices, union reps, and governmental representatives.
  2. Does further relevant tasks as required.
  3. The development of corporate labor relations policies and processes, as well as the coordination of the collection, analysis, and interpretation of research materials related to the negotiation of collective agreements, grievance investigations, arbitrations, and Labour Relations Board cases. produces and delivers a range of written and verbal statistics, reports, and statistics.
  4. At the negotiating table serves as the primary or co-lead negotiator.
  5. Implements oversees, and explains the terms of collective bargaining agreements, grievance rulings, and arbitral verdicts
  6. Investigates represents and helps resolve disputes and complaints about how collective agreements, labor laws, and human resources policies and practices are interpreted.
  7. Handles and prepares for hearings with outside parties. serves as a point of contact for attorneys.
  8. Acts as a point of contact for management and unions about all facets of these ties.
  9. Contributes to the development of bargaining mandates and labor relations strategy. carries out corporate labor relations goals while working as a member of the labor relations team.
